The Turkish Airlines Euroleague 2011–12 will be the 12th season of the modern era of Euroleague Basketball and the second under the title sponsorship of Turkish Airlines. Including the competition's previous incarnation as the FIBA Europe Champions Cup, this will be the 55th season of the premier competition for European men's clubs. The Final Four will be held at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, on May, 2012

A new A License was granted to Asseco Prokom Gdynia, making them the 14th club with this distinction. A C License was given to Eurocup 2010–11 winner UNICS Kazan. ULEB suspended the A License of Virtus Roma after they finished in the bottom half of Lega A in 2010–11, awarding a wild card entry to EA Milano.

Spirou Basket and Galatasaray Medical Park has entred the 2011-2012 Euroleague Regular Season via qualification.

Draw

The draws for the 2011–12 Turkish Airlines Euroleague was held on Monday, July 4. The draws determined the qualifying-round matchups and regular-season groups for the Euroleague, as well as the qualifying rounds for the Eurocup and the regular-season for the EuroChallenge.

Teams were seeded into six pots of four teams in accordance with the Club Ranking, based on their performance in European competitions during a three year period.[3]

Two teams from the same country cannot coincide in the same Regular Season group, except for Spain that has five teams participating in the competition.

The Regular Season begins in October 19.

If teams are level on record at the end of the Regular Season, tiebreakers are applied in the following order:

  1. Head-to-head record.
  2. Head-to-head point differential.
  3. Point differential during the Regular Season.
  4. Points scored during the regular season.
  5. Sum of quotients of points scored and points allowed in each Regular Season match.

Top 16

The draw took place in Barcelona, Spain on 28 December 2011 at 13.00 CET.[4][5] The 16 qualified teams were divided into four seeds based on their final standings in the regular season. Teams coming from the same regular season group were kept from coinciding in the same Top 16 group and an effort was made to keep teams from the same country from coinciding as well. Teams from the same city, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos from Athens, or teams playing in the same arena, Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahçe Ülker at the Sinan Erdem Dome, were prevented from playing both at home in the same matchday.[6]
